The New Horizons beautiful watercolour designer series patterned papers are just stunning and this technique works brilliantly with them with our without additional stamping!
You could, of course, use any of Stampin Up!'s wonderful patterned papers but for me the fantastic landscapes that the watercolours create are perfect with this clever yet incredibly simply technique.
I started with a Rich Razzleberry card base cut lengthways down the A4 cardstock and then scored in the centre and folded for my card base. Next I chose my patterned paper - for this card, one with lots of colour and a faraway scene. The top layer is a simple basic white layer cut to give a small border around the edge of the card.
Next I scored the basic white layer where I wanted the tear line to be and carefully tore the card to give the opening. I stamped the Happy Birthday in the Rich Razzleberry and then used my bone folder to give a little bit of "curl" to the torn piece of card before rolling it up tightly. I secured the rolled card with a glue dot so it didn't unwind too much.
Finally layer up the patterned paper and the torn card on top of the card front. I used our dimensional foam adhesive strips to give the white layer some lift and create a view through to the watercolour scene.
